OMMUNICATING CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITIES TO PUBLIC: THE STUDY OF WEBSITE PUBLICATION OF INDONESIAN COMPANIES

Abstract

Purpose:The paper aims to evaluate the implementation of  stakeholder theory including the elements of environment,  community, employee, supplier and consumers in social activities of  companies. The evaluation of corporate social responsibilties can be traced from the reporting activities on companies’website. Methodology:A content analysis of companies that listed in LQ45 and  some other companies that publish their corporate social  activites on website. There are fifteen industries and 101 companies.  The industries are Mining & Energy,Telecommunication & Service,  Food & Beverage, Construction, Automotive, Banking, Insurance, Pharmaceutical, Non-Cyclical Consumer Goods, Transportation,   Broadcasting, Materials, Industrials, Natural Gas, Real Estate. Findings: The percentage of corporate social responsibility activity of mining and energy industry on environment was 16,90%. It was the highest percentage of corporate social responsibility on environment. The magnitude and propotion of corporate social responsibilities that reported on the website is relatively unequal. The highest proportion lies in environment, community, and consumer. The least proportion lies in supplier. Originality/Value: The literature on social  responsibility drives the growth of internet tools to promote social business activities. The importance lies in the spreading information of business activities in order the public recognizes what the  companies are doing and have accomplished.The website can describe  the communication as the e-reputation. The corporate  website is used to attain the interest of stakeholders. It is the tool of marketing communication to convey corporate social responsibility  message and enhance brand equity. The information disclosure  provides public with the activities regarding stakeholder perspectives including environment, society, supplier, consumers.

PERAN BAHASA DALAM PERBEDAAN ARAH GERAKAN NASIONALISME BASQUE DAN CATALONIA

Abstract

One element of culture is language. Language diversity of each  community are usually closely correlated with ethnic diversity. In the  issue of nationalism, the existence of the language of a group,  always became the basic components that play a role in providing  distinctive features as well as a source of pride for the community  collectively. Ability to communicate with each other is very important  to build bridges with foreign people, and establishing the  notion of a 'nation'. That is why, for nation-builders, efforts to  homogenize a language within a state are paramount because the presence of varying languages can be counterproductive. So how did  the nationalists exploit their language? What influences arising from  differences in the utility of language towards the nationalist movement and its relationship with the state? Referring to the both  of context, the following article will discuss the utility of language in  the issue of nationalism in Spain, especially in the Basque country  and Catalonia. The main focus is the explanation of how language is  used differently by Basque nationalists, that is as exclusive strategies  (anti-immigrant), while the nationalist Catalan uses  language as an effort to build the Catalan culture (assimilation).  Final section concludes that the Basque exclusive strategy and the  strategy of assimilation in Catalan nationalism, played a major role  in explaining why separatism and violence are more dominant in the  Basque nationalist movement than in Catalonia.

“NURCHOLISH” AFTER NURCHOLISH

Dulu, segera setelah Nurcholish Madjid menyampaikan makalahnya yang berjudul “Keharusan Pembaharuan Pemikiran Islam dan Masalah Integrasi Umat (selanjutnya disebut KPPI-MIU)” pada bulan Januari 1970 di Jln. Menteng Raya 58 Jakarta, publik yang sebelumnya menjuluki Nurcholish sebagai “Natsir Muda” (karena isi risalah Nilai Dasar Perjuangan/NDP, yang ditulisnya untuk HMI); langsung bereaksi keras dengan menyatakan bahwa Nurcholish sudah berubah. Mereka mulai berbicara mengenai “Nurcholish before Nurcholish”, yang mendikotomikan secara tegas antara Nucholish Lama dan Baru, yakni Nurcholish sebelum dan sesudah penyampaian makalah itu.

Pemimpin yang humble

Sosok pemimpin yang rendah hati (humble) mulai langka ditemui di negeri ini. Ironisnya, pemimpin yang ada saat ini menunjukkan arogansinya di setiap kesempatan. Banyak pemimpin yang berpikir menjadi pemimpin adalah  melakukan tugas, memiliki otoritas, memiliki posisi untuk memberikan perintah kepada orang yang dipimpin, memiliki kemampuan untuk mendapatkan pengaruh atas orang lain karena kepandaiannya.

Menjadi pemimpin yang humble berarti dia harus mendorong orang yang dipimpinnya dan memberikan mereka penghargaan dan pemimpin memberikannya sesuai haknya. Oleh karena itu untuk menjadi pemimpin yang rendah hati perlu memiliki kemampuan yang tidak hanya sekadar pengetahuan, keterampilan dan bakat saja.

Di tengah krisis ekonomi global yang belum menunjukkan tanda-tanda perbaikan, perekonomian Indonesia tetap tumbuh meyakinkan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir.

Prestasi ini tak lepas dari peran industri perbankan sebagai sumber pendanaan utama aktivitas perekonomian. LIma tahun terakhir kredit perbankan naik rata-rata 23 persen per tahun. Pada saat bersamaan nilai aset, rasio kredit terhadap dana pihak ketiga (LDR), kredit bermasalah (NPL), dan rasio kecukupan modal (CAR) juga menunjukkan tren menggembirakan. Hal ini menggambarkan kesiapan perbankan untuk terus mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi pada tahun mendatang.
